The customer will be responsible for verifying the condition of goods purchased upon receipt.  Floors Direct Toronto will not be liable for any damages, regardless of circumstance, to products once in the possession of the end user or the designated representatives thereof.  If items have verifiable evidence of manufacturer’s defects greater than the 5% defect tolerance prior to installation, items will be replaced free of charge or returned for a full refund as desired by the customer.  Any goods that have been cut or installed will not under any circumstances be eligible for returns or refunds, furthermore, Floors Direct Toronto accepts no liabilities, claims or expenses where goods with identifiable defects have been installed.

IV.       DELIVERY, SITE PREPARATIONS AND INSTALLATION

Delivery services start at $50 and will require a signature upon acceptance of products in good condition.  Drivers will be instructed to deliver goods to the garage, main floor, or moving room for condos and commercial properties.  Deliveries involving elevators, upper floors, basements, or special requests start at $150.  Most products recommend 24-72 hours of acclimatization prior to install.

The customer is responsible for ensuring the job site is ready for work to begin when scheduled and to allow for reasonable access to work areas.  The site should have adequate space and lighting to ensure installers can perform their duties safely and to the highest standard.  For ideal installation conditions, relative humidity levels should be between 30%-50% as per the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA).  The customer will understand that dust is inevitable during renovations and will take steps to protect their belongings accordingly.  Condo projects must be approved by condo management prior to installation.  The customer will be responsible for elevator bookings and any other requirements as directed by condo management.  If installation has to be postponed for any reason, Floors Direct Toronto requires at least 48 hours notification prior to the install date.  If contractors arrive as scheduled but work is unable to commence due to a controllable circumstance, the customer will be subject to a fee of up to $200 for time lost.

Installers assigned by Floors Direct Toronto will be WSIB certified and fully compliant to the Floors Direct Toronto code of conduct.  Installers will not be responsible for disconnecting or reconnecting any plumbing or electrical fixtures including fridges, dishwashers, heaters, A/V equipment, or any other fastened appliance or decor.  Installers will be instructed to sweep loose debris and remove all tools and related construction waste upon completion but are not obligated to mop or vacuum.

Upon completion of installation, the customer will perform a walk through with the lead installer or a Floors Direct Toronto flooring specialist to the full satisfaction of the customer, to then thereafter remit any and all remaining outstanding balances.  Floors Direct Toronto assumes no liability of damages in the form of indentations, scratches, surface or structural damages that occur or are reported after the final walk through is completed.

V.         WARRANTIES, CLAIMS, MAINTENANCE, AND PROPER CARE

Floors Direct Toronto supports manufacturers’ warranties for the continued structural integrity of products sold, granted that proper manufacturer recommended products and installation processes are followed, recommended humidity levels are kept, and adequate care of products have been surveyed.  These warranties exclude any indentations, scratches, surface or structure damages caused by lack of proper maintenance, misuse, negligence, accidents, water damage, improper cleaning products or practices, pets, or any further damages caused by everyday wear and tear.  Improper storage of goods or inadequate acclimatization prior to installation will void warranties.  Upon a valid claim for defective material, the manufacturer will designate a representative for a site inspection to ensure proper installation practices and conditions meet that of the manufacture’s recommendations.  Failure to report defects prior to installation will void warranties.   Installation services provided by Floors Direct Toronto will have a 1 year warranty upon completion to address issues deemed upon inspection to be an installation error.  Installation warranty does not apply to products installed that were not purchased through Floors Direct Toronto.  This warranty is extended to the original end user only and is not transferable.  Keep a copy of your original invoice as proof of warranty.

Wood is a hygroscopic material and will expand and contract with changing moisture conditions.   Some separation between boards may occur during seasonal change and squeaks are expected to occur over time. This is not considered a defect and will not be covered under warranty.  According to the NWFA, ideal relative humidity levels for hardwood range between 30%-50% and must be within this range to support any legitimate claims.  Colour, shade, texture variations and natural occurring wood characteristics like knots and mineral streaks are to be expected in wood products which will vary with age and are not considered defects.  It should be expected that wood flooring samples may vary within a reasonable amount in colour, shade, texture variations and natural occurring wood characteristics and will not be considered defective, therefor, it is always recommended to review the product prior to installation. Floor gaps up to 1/16” wide upon installation are considered acceptable.  Floating floors are subject to constant movement and various stresses which may result in separations or slight buckling overtime which will not be considered defective.  Carpet products are to be expected to flatten and stretch out over time.

To properly care for flooring, maintain recommended humidity levels, pad furniture legs, and use recommended cleaners.  Minor nicks and scratches can be restored by the homeowner with a repair kit, putties and touch-up pens found at any hardware store.  For larger areas of damage where it is recommended that entire sections be replaced, it is always recommend to buy extra material to keep on hand as products my discontinue without notice.
